The Collectors’ Cabinet display gives museum visitors the chance to see extraordinary objects loaned from public and private horological collections. The display is temporary and themed around a particular subject

The Collectors' Cabinet

The Collectors' Cabinet is a free display, located towards the end of the gallery. It is open daily along with the rest of the Clockmakers' Museum from 10am - 6pm. To book a free entry ticket to the museum, please visit the Science Museum's website.

Charles Frodsham, Precise Time: Two Centuries in the Making

The latest display in the Collectors’ Cabinet opened on March 9th 2026. It highlights the work of Charles Frodsham & Co. Founded in 1834 and still operating today, the company is considered the oldest continuously trading chronometer maker in the world. The display showcases the company’s contributions to society’s timekeeping demands over the past two centuries, and features a new cabinet exploring the making of their Double Impulse Chronometer wristwatch. Until 28th February 2027.

Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy: A Champion of British Craftsmanship

The second display in the Collectors’ Cabinet celebrated the last of the great Vulliamy family of royal clockmakers, Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy, who was one of the driving forces behind the formation of the Clockmakers’ Museum. Opened 13th November 2024, and losed 2nd November 2025

Abraham-Louis Breguet: The English Connection

The inaugural display of the Collectors’ Cabinet was created to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of inventor and watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747–1823). It showcased a selection of his extraordinary pieces from public and private collections, all united by their connection to England. The display opened September 12th 2023 and closed September 8th 2024
