Launch of New Schools Programme

06 November 2023

It was standing room only at the City of London School for Boys on Monday 6th November, when Assistant Andrew Canter launched the Charity's new Schools Programme.

The objective of the visit was to give a presentation about the Clockmakers’ Company, the Clockmakers’ Museum and the virtues of watch and clock making as a career to Year 12 students (aged between 16 and 17 years old).

Andrew had brought along several items from the Clockmakers’ Museum Object Handling collection which included parts of a mechanical movement of a clock, clockmaking tools and a sundial. These, and a selection of videos and animations that clearly caught the boys' interest, helped to tell the story of time and how it is still relevant today. The session was extremely well attended and there were lots of questions from the students during the presentation and afterwards, when they had the opportunity to ask the Clockmakers’ team about the practical steps to becoming a watch or clock maker.
